Medical Association Opposes Healthcare Reforms

The American Medical Association is balking at President Obama's ideas for healthcare reform.  "The New York Times" reports the powerful doctors' group is telling Congress it won't support any plan that mandates doctors' participation or strangles the free market for insurance.  The AMA submitted comments to the Senate Finance Committee that it fears that forcing physicians to accept patients could overwhelm them.  And if private insurers are pushed to the breaking point by a public plan, it'll send medical costs skyrocketing.  The AMA is happy about one thing: that the President is addressing the group on Monday in Chicago at their annual meeting.  He's planning on laying out his plans to overhaul the way Americans pay for medical care.
