Mayors Across NY State To Look At Andrew Cuomo's Budget

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s proposed $136 billion spending plan will be put to its toughest examination yet starting today, when a series of hearings kick off critiquing every area of the budget. Mayors and local officials will have their chance to sound off on Cuomo’s budget with the first of 13 legislative hearings scheduled over the next month. Known at the capitol as the “tin-cup brigade,” the mayors are expected to push for more aid and fewer state-mandated costs. Most lawmakers agree an on-time budget is attainable for the third year in a row.
