Marijuana legalization effort in NY

Marijuana in New York would be legalized under legislation submitted by a State Senator. Liz Krueger, a democrat from Manhattan, says the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act would treat cannabis similar to alcohol—it would taxed and regulated. Her bill would remove penalties for possession of under two ounces of marijuana. It would make 18 the minimum legal age for marijuana possession and consumption, but prohibit the sale of marijuana to people under the age of 21.  Conservative Republicans and Governor Cuomo both oppose the effort to ease restrictions on marijuana...even for medicinal purposes.
