Maid of the Mist has Canadian Competition

05.19.14 | Bob Price

For the first time in its 100 year history-- the Maid of the Mist tour boats below Niagara Falls have some tourism competition this summer. The boats will continue to launch from the American side of the falls, but this year, for the first time, a rival has emerged: Hornblower Niagara Cruises has already set sail from the Canadian side of the falls. The Maid of the Mist, with its two 600-passenger steam ship style vessels and Hornblower's pair of 700-passenger catamarans, offer virtually the same daytime experience, sailing poncho-clad passengers up to the 16-storey white walls of water, for views that are unrivaled on land.
