Lightening struck the roof of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome last night, hours after pope benedict said he'd be retiring, the first pope to retire in 600 years. Meanwhile, many are wondering what will happen to the pope when Benedictine the 16th steps down. There is no role for an ex-pope. Benedict says he will move to a cloistered monastary in the Vatican, praying and reflecting-- very low profile. Another question today could an American cardinal be picked to lead the world's more then 1 billion Catholics? Pundits say "I think it's a slim possibility that an American can be elected, because we're the lone superpower of the world, and they're unlikely to give the leadership of the church to an American."  The Vatican said last night they hope to have a new Pope installed by Easter at the end of March.
