Legal Battle Over Religious Runaway Will Continue

The legal battle over an Ohio teen whose been dubbed a religious runaway will continue making its way through the Florida court system. Judge Daniel Dawson had been hoping a settlement in the case of Rifqa Bary could be reached outside of court but several new motions filed on Monday will drag out the process. The 17-year-old remains in foster care while the judge talks with his Ohio counterpart about a pending dependency petition recently filed there. Meanwhile, Rifqa's parents took a more aggressive stance through their lawyers and filed a criminal complaint against the Orlando pastors who helped arrange for Rifqa stay with them for two weeks before she was placed in foster care. The teen ran away from her home in New Albany, Ohio, just outside Columbus, and says she fears for her life after converting from Islam to Christianity. A mediation session has been set for the ninth of next month with a court hearing on the 13th.
