Israelis Begin Casting Votes

Israelis have started heading to the polls to elect a new prime minister. Conservative Likud party candidate Benjamin Netanyahu and centrist Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni are locked in a race that is too close to call. Netanyahu saw his large lead in the polls diminish since the 22-day war last month that killed 13-hundred Palestinians and 13 Israelis.

Netanyahu says he would set tougher terms for any peace deals, while Livni's Kadima party supports the U.S.-backed peacemaking efforts.
