Iranian Scientist Returns To Tehran Amid Rumors Of Kidnapping

(Tehran) -- The mysterious case of the Iranian nuclear scientist who claims he was kidnapped by the CIA a year ago returned full circle Thursday when he set foot back in Iran. Shahram Amiri flashed victory signs as he was greeted by his family and a senior foreign ministry at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport. Amiri says he was taken by U.S. officials in 2009 in Saudi Arabia while on a pilgrimage and transported to the U.S. While there, Amiri said he was offered 50-million dollars "to spread lies" about Iran's nuclear program, adding Israeli agents were also involved in his interrogation.
While Washington officials deny Amiri was abducted, one official did admit that they received information from Amiri. They add that Amiri defected to the U.S., but has now simply changed his mind and returned home to Iran. Amiri, or a man who looked like Amiri, had been seen recently on different video tapes claiming he had been kidnapped and tortured, but had escaped from U.S. agents.
