Ichiro, Hunter Win Gold Gloves Again

A pair of outfielders lead the list of Gold Glove Award winners in the American League. Ichiro Suzuki from the Seattle Mariners and Torii Hunter of the Angels each won their ninth-straight award. The AL Gold Glove Award winners were announced Tuesday. Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles rounds out the AL recipients. It is his first such award.

In the infield, a pair of players from the World Series champion New York Yankees were honored. First baseman Mark Teixeira [[ tuh-SHAIR-uh ]] and shortstop Derek Jeter received Gold Glove Awards. It's Teixeira's third such award and Jeter's fourth, with both players last getting the honor in 2006. Detroit Tigers second baseman Placido Polanco picked up his second Gold Glove, while Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria became a first-time winner. On the mound, it was Chicago White Sox starter Mark Buehrle [[ BURR-lee ]] capturing his first honor, while Joe Mauer of the Minnesota Twins was honored for the second-straight year for his glove work behind the plate. The National League Gold Glove Award winners will be announced Wednesday.
