How did New York and Pennsylvania fare from Hurricane Irene? All of Wyoming County, Pennsylvania was under a travel ban because of the number of roads washed out or blocked by flooding, downed trees and power lines. Roads in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania are closed. As of 9:30 a.m. Monday, there were 21 roads closed in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. In New York, the cities of Conklin and Kirkwood had major flooding. Over a thousand people were asked to evacuate Sunday night, after 2.7 inches of rain fell in hours. The Susquehanna River is the focal point now, it's crest could top 17 feet, which is over a foot above flood stage. Broome County, NY as declared a state of emergency. The towns of Deposit and Sanford in Delaware County were hardest hit in the New York section of the Family Life listening area. In Pennsylvania, areas near the Susquehanna were hammered. That river isn't expected to crest for two or three more days. 400-thousand people were without power as of 10 a.m. Monday morning in New York, 1.5 million people were in the dark in Pennsylvania.
