Hot Enough for You This August?

09.01.16 | Bob Price

The average temperature in Western New York was 75.7 degrees in August, making it the hottest August on record. The mark topples the 75.2 set in 1947.

National Weather Service meteorologist Aaron Reynolds says there was a high pressure front that wouldn't go away. "We had a very much stretch going back to July of very warm temperatures," says Reynolds. "We had constant warm southernly flow that kept bringing warm moist air into the region, and no cold fronts passing our way."

The irony is when September starts, there will be a cooling period that started with thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon. But the temperature will rise again for Labor Day Weekend.
