Higher Unemployment Correlates With Belief in the Bible
07.19.11 |
According to Labor Department data and a Gallup poll, belief in the Bible in the U.S. hit a 35 year low in May 2008, when unemployment rate was just 5%. At that time, a record low of 76% of Americans believed the Bible was the actually word of God. But, this May, when unemployment soared to 9.1%, belief in the Bible was up to 79%.The simultaneous increase in the unemployment rate and belief in the Bible may be wholly coincidentally, yet, no matter what caused their change of heart, a smaller percentage of Americans today reject the divine origin of the Bible than did in the spring of 2008.
