Governor Cuomo Sounds Like He's Campaigning At the DNC
09.07.12 |
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's speech at the DNC Thursday continued to fuel speculation that he may run for president in 2016. The governor never made any direct reference to running, but he did do something that was quite uncharacteristic. One of the things this governor is praised for is his ability to reach across the aisle and make things happen with republicans. Which is why it was surprising that he said "I admit last week, I was peeking at the Republican convention. I found it amusing, actually. But it was great theatre. That's what it was... theatre. That's why the actors were so at home there, because it was theatre." Cuomo has not ruled out a presidential run in 2016. The speech was reminiscent of the oratory skills of his father, Mario Cuomo, who gave a rousing keynote address at the DNC in 1984. He was considered a top prospect for the presidency, but ultimately never ran.
