Government Agency Recalls Tree Topper Ornament For Fire Hazard Issue
12.18.09 |
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a voluntary recall of an angel ornament used to decorate the tops of Christmas trees. The agency says the Precious Moments Angel Tree Toppers contain undersized wiring. A switch assembly can overheat and melt causing a fire hazard. The ornament is a ten-inch tall vinyl angel with wings lighted by LEDs. The angels are white, gold and yellow and are holding either a star or a set of bells. They were sold nationwide from August through December for about 18-dollars. The CPSC recommends use of the toppers be stopped immediately. Consumers should return them to the place they were purchased for a refund. More information is available on the distributor's Web site PreciousMoments.com. The company has received two reports of incidents involving overheating, no injuries have been reported.
