Google Launches "Person Finder" Following Chile Quake
03.02.10 |
Google has launched a new version of the Person Finder tool to help earthquake victims in Chile track down their loved ones. The version is similar to a program launched following the massive Haiti quake. Person Finder allows people to search for or leave information about those missing in the aftermath of Saturday's magnitude 8.8 quake. Google also set up a crisis response page to help people in the U.S. get information about those in Chile. The death toll continues to rise, with more than 700 people reported dead. Officials there say the devastating quake and tsunamis that followed took the lives of 350 people in one coastal town alone. A series of strong aftershocks have rocked Chile since the quake hit.
