The world is more connected than ever. A new study shows more than four-point-six-billion people worldwide subscribed to mobile cellular services last year. The International Telecommunication Union expects those numbers to increase to five-billion in 2010. That comes as services expand in developed countries and access improves in the developing world. The report predicts a rapid uptake in cell phone and mobile device use worldwide as technology improves and expands to more areas. The ITU estimates the number of people with web capability on their cell phones and mobile devices will exceed access from desktop computers within five years. The ITU also expects a surge in mobile broadband subscriptions, expected to hit one-billion globally from 600-million at the end of 2009.
