Fifty year Old Radio Station Goes Silent in PA
04.16.09 |
A once popular radio station in north eastern Pennsylvania has gone off the air. WARM, owned by Citadel Broadcasting Company has gone silent. The AM-radio station at 590 on the dial had been on the air for more than 50 years. A posting on its Web site thanked listeners for their support.
A newspaper report quoted one of the employees as saying a transmitter problem forced the station off the air, and it appears the money won’t be invested to get the station back on the airwaves. The station had a 5,000 Watt signal and for years had been a popular stop on the radio.
