Few Recognize National "Coming Out" Day
10.11.11 |
Today is National Coming Out Day-- a day set aside with the intention of providing people an occasion to reveal that they are involved in an alternative sexual lifestyle. Nearly 30-percent of the respondents in a Care2.com poll say they plan to observe the day by "applauding freedom," and 12-percent will be "hugging" their lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender friends. For three-percent this will be a more significant day, as they intend to use Coming Out Day as a platform to facilitate their own announcement of being part of the lbgt community. But the majority of people taking part in the poll admit they weren't aware of the day...answering the question "How are you observing National Coming Out Day?" they said "By not knowing it was National Coming Out Day."
