The federal agency has approved a major disaster declaration for Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Delaware, Schuyler, Seneca, and Tioga counties of New York.

Flooding pummeled the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions on August 13th through the 15th, causing plenty of damage across the area.

More than 200 people had to be evacuated and some 1,500 homes lost power during the flooding.

The devastation caused more than $36 million in response costs and infrastructure damage.
