Federal Panel To Hear Voter ID Law In South Carolina; Has Similarities To P.A.'s Law

A three-judge federal panel hears closing arguments today concerning South Carolina's voter id law.  It's anticipated that opponents will challenge the credibility of Republican state representative who authored the bill.  Last year, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder blocked the law from taking effect, claiming it violated the Civil Rights Act.  It looks a lot like Pennsylvania's bill-- which requires voters to carry an id to the ballot box. A ruling on Pennsylvania's bill is expected within the next two weeks.
