Federal Judge To Rule On Yanked Planned Parenthood Cash

On Monday, a federal judge said she will decide by July 1, 2011 whether or not Indiana can withhold government funds from abortion provider Planned Parenthood. The state is the first in the nation to put a law in place that would ban taxpayers' cash from funding abortions. U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt heard over ninety minutes of arguments concerning Planned Parenthood's request for an injunction to block Indiana's new abortion law, and said she'd make a ruling in three and a half weeks. Planned Parenthood says losing the money would hurt 9,300 patients they serve. Supporters of the bill say Planned Parenthood is behind 300,000 abortions each year in America, and they do not want their paychecks paying for them.
