Federal Court Bans "Don't Ask Don't Tell"

"Don't Ask Don't Tell"-- the law that keeps gays from openly serving in the military -- was banned by three judges in a federal court yesterday afternoon. The Obama Administration is now under a court order to stop enforcing the military's ban on gay servicemembers. A panel for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Wednesday "Don't Ask Don't Tell" was unconstitutional. The Family Research Council says the judges overstepped their bounds; usurping the role of Congress, the President and military leaders. FRC President Tony Perkins issued a statement Wednesday night calling on the President to appeal the ruling, and asking the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene. The Pentagon says they will comply with the court order and will start informing commanders in the field today. The Pentagon has not even written all of the rules yet for the new policy. Despite that, this court order makes the President's law active now.
