Fall Sharathon starts this week
10.12.09 |
Family Life’s Fall Sharathon kicks off Thursday, October 15, and wraps up Saturday night after three days of broadcasting across NY and PA. There are so many things happening during Sharathon this week that you might want to think about stopping by.
So what’s going on? For starters, we’re serving full dinners on Friday and Saturday, so come armed with a hearty appetite. Friday we’re having a fish dinner from 4pm to 7pm, complete with plenty of fixings and full-service dining. We’ll do everything but give you a couch to crash on when the food-coma hits! On Saturday, dinner will be served all day. The menu features Stearn’s chicken and roast pork—good, butter-dripping barbeque that’ll make everyone happy. Each meal is around $6 a person.
Sharathon has a family-friendly atmosphere so bring the whole crew. There’ll be family activities and fun for kids and teens, including Nintendo Wii competitions, family hayrides, and an outdoor bounce house. (Pray for good weather.) The kid’s carnival will keep little ones—and big ones—busy playing games and learning how to make their favorite balloon animals. Other activities include face painting, puppet shows, and you guessed it—plenty of carnival games.
On Saturday, October 17, Family Life welcomes special guest Jill Kelly, the wife of retired Buffalo Bills quarterback, Jim Kelly, to take part in Sharathon. Kelly will meet visitors, sign autographs, and do live radio interviews throughout the day. Then later that night, Midnight Madness kicks off with a mix of whacky games and contests: candy relay races, the mini-Olympics, and battleship wars. The mini-Olympics? What? That should be interesting. Still nothing tops the time Denny, our morning show co-host, got pegged in the face with a pie. (Which most of us agree was the highlight of last Sharathon.) So come join the fun this week. We’d love to meet you and the family.
In case you’re wondering, Sharathon is held twice a year and raises general operating expenses for FLN, as well as support for many other programs and activities offered by Family Life.
If you’d like to make a faith promise, or participate in challenges and drawings over the radio, call 1-800-927-9083 during the event. Sharathon starts at 6am Thursday and Friday, and ends at 9pm both days. Saturday hours extend to Midnight. You can also participate online anytime by clicking here.
