Summer 2012 was officially the third-hottest on record, and fall is gearing up to be steamier then usual, too. The National Climactic Data Center in North Carolina said 80 million americans suffered through 100 degree heat, and for the entire year to date, this is the warmest on record since record keeping started in 1895. They say the warmth will continue for at least the next 3 months. Seven of the ten hottest summers in recorded modern history have occurred since 2000.
