Expect to pay more for a "real" Christmas tree this year

A national shortage of trees has led to higher prices.

Richand Donnel with the National Christmas Tree Association knows of a grower in California who had to bring in trees from Wisconsin.

The average cost for a real tree this year is $81.

82% of U.S. households display fake trees.

Just 18% put up a real tree for the holidays.

Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding says most people don't realize the years of trim work that go into growing a Christmas tree.

The top five Christmas tree producing states include Oregon, North Carolina, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

New York ranks seventh.
