Don't Eat the Pistachios
03.31.09 |
For now, people across America should avoid eating products containing pistachios. That is the message from the Food and Drug Administration. The agency says it is because of a possible salmonella outbreak -- discovered in nuts roasted and distributed by a central California company. Setton Pistachio is recalling approximately one million pounds of pistachio products over the salmonella concerns.
The FDA says it needs to find the source of the contamination and major recalls are likely over the next few days because it is possible that many of the nuts have been repackaged. Consumers are urged to hold onto any pistachio products while the investigation continues.
