Deputies identify child who drowned in hotel pool

Henrietta, N.Y. (WHAM) - The child who drowned in a hotel pool in Henrietta has been identified.

Monroe County Sheriff's deputies said Jamielath Kabba, 8, of Rochester drowned in the pool at the Residence Inn in Henrietta around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

On Saturday, deputies said she was swimming with three others.

On Sunday, deputies said an adult was with her and that it took 11 minutes before she was located in the deep end of the pool.

Jamielath was pronounced dead at Strong Memorial Hospital an hour later.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the sheriff's office.
