The tax cuts represent about 40-dollars per paycheck and roughly one-thousand dollars a year for those earning 50-thousand-dollars.  On Monday, House Republican leaders said they'd approve the tax cut extension without requiring federal spending cuts to pay for it.  They forced Democrats to agree to a freeze on federal workers' pay to fund the jobless extension.  Bipartisan negotiations had been stalled over how to pay for the extensions.  Both were due to expire at the end of the month.
