Cruise Sets Sail In 2012 To Commemorate Titanic Centennial
10.06.09 |
A hundred years after the sinking of the Titanic, a cruise will trace the doomed ship's route. The Titanic Memorial Cruise departs Southampton, England on April 8th, 2012, exactly a century from the launch of the Titanic's maiden -- and only -- voyage. The ship Balmoral will pause at the spot in the North Atlantic where the flagship of the White Star Line hit an iceberg and sank. Balmoral passengers will hold a memorial service for the more than 15-hundred people who died in the disaster. The Balmoral will also stop in Halifax, Nova Scotia where many of the Titanic victims are buried. The cost for the 12-night-trip starts at 39-hundred dollars and ends in the Titanic's intended destination of New York.
