If you live in Corning, NY, you may have noticed that Family Life can no longer be heard at 88.3 FM. Don't worry, we haven't left the area. The signal has been moved to 104.1 FM. Here's why:

Family Life uses low-power stations called "translators" to fill in gaps in our radio coverage. These signals are designed to only cover small areas such as towns or cities. Since the FCC gives precedence to full-power stations over translators, Family Life may be asked to move a translator to a different signal if another broadcaster applies for a full-power station on a similar frequency. A few months ago, another station went on the air in Elmira at 88.1 FM. That is why Family Life moved its Elmira translator to 102.5 FM and has now moved its Corning translator.

There are other Family Life translators that will be swapping signals in the near future. Olean's translator will be moving from 90.5 FM to 101.1 FM, and the Binghamton translator will be moving from 98.7 FM to 102.9 FM. We'll let you know when these changes take place.
