Churches Becoming Less Segregated

Sunday morning worship services may still be the most segregated hour in America. However, fewer congregations are completely one color when it comes to race.

The new "National Congregations Study" found forteen percent of primarly white congregations reported no minorities in their midst. That is down six percent from the start of the decade.

Over 1,500 congregations were compared. The increase in diversity is only among primarily white churches. The numbers in black churches did not change.

The study was published in the journal "Sociology of Religion."
