Chatauqua Town Considers Huge Tax Increaes

The financial fiasco facing Forestville and its village 700 residents is daunting to say the least. The village's third mayor in two years is proposing a budget that increases property taxes by 445%! A homeowner whose house is assessed at $50,000 would see their taxbill rise from $257 to $1,398. Mayor Elect  Kevin Johnson says Forestville owes nearly a half a million dollars in loans and the lender wants their money. Forestville's annual budget is normally around $100,000.
