Changes are coming to the Common Core in New York

New York's education commissioner has announced that the state Board of Regents will be presented with proposed changes to the Common Core next week with a vote expected in June.

The latest proposal comes as grade 3 through 8 students began standardized math testing yesterday with some districts continuing to report a high number of test refusals as part of an ongoing boycott now in its fourth year.

If approved, the new standards would not take effect until after 2018.
