Ononadaga County's district attorney is frustrated over his inability to get records from police regarding an on-going investigation into a Syracuse University basketball coach who is accused of abusing ball boys.
William Fitzpatrick has issued subpoenas to force the Syracuse police department to hand over the records about Bernie Fine, the man accused of abusing former ball balls. He has been Jim Boehim's assistant coach for 35 years. Fitzpatrick says the Syracuse police department has yet to honor his request. He tells the Post Standard, never in the history of the D-A's office has there been such lack of police cooperation.
Two former ball boys have claimed they were molested more than 25 years ago by Fine, who is on paid leave from the university. Fine says the charges are "patently false" and expressed confidence he would be vindicated.
The mayor of Syracuse, Stephanie Miner says no information will be released in piecemeal. and Syracuse police say the investigation will take several weeks to complete.
