Cayuga County Issues Ultimatum To Town Clerks

09.13.11 | Bob Price, Sarah Harnisch

Cayuga County is issuing an ultimatum to town clerks: resign or issue marriage licenses to both gay and straight couples.  The edict was announced after a clerk refused to marry a homosexual couple. The clerk cited her religious beliefs, for refusing to do so.  The Ledyard town board says it would face a lawsuit if it allowed the town clerk to keep her job.
