Catholics Upset With Federal Contraception Rules

Catholic Church leaders are taking issue with new federal health care rules on birth control. Church officials say President Obama's decision not to exempt all faith-based employers from requirements covering contraception services is a violation of religious beliefs. Catholic churches are exempt from the requirement, but other Catholic institutions are not. New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan is among those urging followers to contact lawmakers and voice their disapproval. The Roman Catholic Church opposes all forms of artificial birth control. Many political analysts say the contraception mandate could cost Obama throngs of Catholic and Evangelical Christian voters in the 2012 general election.
