Cash For NY's Flood Warning System In Peril

Lawmakers are scrambling to fund New York's flood warning system. March 1st is the deadline this year for funding to keep the region's stream and rain gauges functional. The funding has been nearly nixed from the federal budget every year since 2011. Chuck Schumer, Richard Hannah, and Tom Reed have all called on the government to drop the 200-thousand dollars needed to save the guages-- saying 80 percent of the basin's 14-hundred towns are on flood planes, and the rain guages save lives.
