California Hospital to Test Drive-Thru For Pandemics

Stanford Hospital in Stanford, California is set to test what may be the nation's first drive-through for pandemics. The scrimmage planned for Friday will simulate a system to be used in a wide-spread health emergency, where patients seeking medical treatment would not have to leave their vehicles. Stanford officials say the underlying point is to avoid infection. Meaning, keeping really sick people away from each other, which could help prevent a highly-contagious disease from spreading. The Stanford plan involves portable medical screening equipment at various test centers. Stanford officials say the federal government may use the plan in hospitals across the U.S.
