Broome County Tops The State of NY In Population Exodus

According to new U.S. Census figures, Broome County's population drop is the highest in the state; even more then New York City. The county lost 25-hundred people between 2010 and 2012, according to estimates released Thursday. Cornell University says out-migration is the cause. People left the area after Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Irene, not willing to weather another storm with severe flooding. Tioga County was right behind Broome, loosing almost 15-hundred people.
