Bonuses Available to PA Veterans of First Gulf War

As Americans remember the men and women of the armed forces who have given their lives in service to the United States, Pennsylvania’s National Guard officials are reminding veterans of the first Persian Gulf War and their families of a benefit program that provides a measure of compensation in appreciation for their service.
Department of Military and Veterans Affairs spokeswoman Beth Deck says the bonus pays $75 per month for qualifying active-duty service, up to a $525 maximum. Deck says funds are also available for surviving family members and POW’s.
Several Criteria must be met to qualify for the bonuses. To date, more than 7,200 Gulf veterans have applied for the one-time cash payment with approximately $2.5 million in bonuses has been paid.
