While it may not be comforting to others knowing that the person sitting in the pew next to you may be packing heat, the Arkansas House has narrowly approved legislation that would allow concealed handguns in church. The Wednesday vote on the legislation authored by Republican Representative Beverly Pyle was approved 57-42.

The bill does stipulate that churches can decide one way or the other whether to allow concealed weapons on their premises provided they fully inform parishioners of the policy.
