Bill for Landowner's Rights Approved in PA Senate

Landowners with gas leases would gain some legal rights in their dealings with gas companies under legislation approved by the Senate this week.  And House lawmakers from the gas drilling regions are seeking compromise on a bill to limit what companies can deduct in post-production costs tied to Marcellus drilling from royalty payments to landowners. These measures are being considered separately, but they stem from a wave of complaints from landowners in the Marcellus region about the business practices of drillers. In some cases, landowners have complained that the deductions have dramatically reduced royalty payments.
