AZ Governor Opposes Foreign Countries' Appeal Participation
10.06.10 |
(Phoenix, AZ) -- Arizona Governor Jan Brewer is speaking out against foreign countries getting involved in the state's legal dispute over its tough new immigration law. Tuesday, Brewer filed a motion in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit opposing efforts by nearly a dozen foreign countries to weigh in on SB 1070.
Eleven countries are supporting the U.S. Department of Justice lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the measure. In a statement accompanying her filing, Brewer said, "I find it incredibly offensive that these foreign governments are using our court system to meddle in a domestic legal dispute and to oppose the rule of law."
