Are they the bones of St. Peter ?

The Vatican has for the first time ...publicly unveiled a handful of bones purportedly belonging to St. Peter. The display on Sunday at a special mass in St. Peter’s Square ..revives a tantalizing mystery over whether the relics found in a shoe box truly belong to the first pope. The nine pieces of bone fragment were displayed in a bronze case on the side of the altar while Pope Francis delivered his homily. It was the first time they have ever been seen in public. The relics were discovered during an excavation of St. Peter's Basilica in the 1930’s and 40’s.  Many archeologists dispute the findings, arguing there’s no proof they are the remains of St. Peter.
