How popular was the biblical character of Samson? He just might have been popular enough to be featured on an Israelite coin. Israeli archaologists recently discovered a coin dating from the 11th century before Christ. It depicted "a man with long hair fighting a large animal with a feline tail," referencing Samson's battle with a lion. The coin was found near the Sorek River, the border between the ancient Israelite and Philistine territories 31-hundred years ago. Archaelogists say it's proof that Samson actually existed.
