An historic cemetery in Buffalo, NY has a coyote problem

It's so bad that some people have actually reported being chased by coyotes while visiting grave-sites.

But a plan to euthennize the animals at Forest Lawn Cemetery is not sitting well with animal rights activists.

Gina Browning with the SPCA of Erie County says the cemetery has agreed to hold off on killing the coyotes and instead will employ less "fatalistic" strategies such as pyrotechnics or flashing lights to scare away the unwanted guests at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Wildlife officials say the cemetery's abundance of deer is attracting the coyotes, which are also showing up in a number of Buffalo suburbs such as Lancaster, Amherst, and Clarence.
