Amtrak Will Allow Firearms On Trains

Amtrak is reversing a decade-old ban and allowing guns on most of its trains. Starting December 15th, passengers will be allowed to bring unloaded firearms on trains with their checked baggage.  The guns must be packed in hard-sided containers and the ammunition must be packed separately.  Passengers must also give Amtrak 24 hours notice that they intend to pack a firearm.  The ban on firearms was put into place in 2004 in response to the terrorist attacks on 9-11.
