Air Force Drops Operations Christmas Child
11.08.11 |
The Air Force Academy decided to end their promotion of "Operation Christmas Child." The move followed pressure from the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, a liberal group that calls themself the "conscience of the military". They generated a petition with thousands of signatures to get the Air Force to drop their support of Operation Christmas Child. It's important to note that Operation Christmas Child is still in full force at thousands of locations across the nation, including Family Life.
The Military Religious Foundation's motto is "when one proudly dons a U.S. Military uniform, there is only one religious symbol: the American flag. There is only one religious scripture: the American Constitution. Finally, there is only 1 religious faith: American patriotism." Their goal is to wipe all traces of any religion from the American military.
"Operation Christmas Child" is sponsored by Franklin Graham's group, Samaritan's Purse. They send toys in shoe boxes along with a Christian message to needy kids around the world.
