Abortion Rates Could Spike Exponentially With New Genetic Test

Scientists have designed a new test to check for genetic faults, and it could lead to more abortions. An American team of scientists have been able to predict the entire genetic code of a fetus by taking a blood sample from a woman who was 18-weeks pregnant and had free floating DNA from the baby in her bloodstream, and a swab of saliva from the father. The only two genetic disorders routinely tested for are Down's Syndrome and neural tube defects. This new test would identify 35-hundred more conditions. The Pro-Life Alliance says 3 in 4 babies that are found to have Downs or a neural tube defect are aborted every year. They say to go from two tests to a test that checks for 35-hundred conditions would lead to an exponential spike in abortions.
