A Weekend of Spiritual Renewal
12.19.08 |
"It was amazing and well worth it!"
"It was exactly what I needed!"
"It always recharges my spiritual batteries!"
"Excellent, off the charts!"
"I'm going home with a filling of the Holy Spirit. The conference is such a blessing and a spiritual renewal!"
These are just a few of the comments that the SALSA Leadership Team received after the 2008 conference that was held last January at scenic Watson Homestead in Painted Post, NY. The conference theme, "All Star Singles" allowed the team to be creative in their planning. There were competitive games like ice volleyball and rubber ducky relays followed by an "awards banquet" on Saturday night. Family Life's human foosball game was a huge hit as well. The competetion was fierce at times and there were a few bruises and misplaced ceiling tiles. One guest commented, "The theme with activities related was a great mixer idea and lots of fun that thread the weekend together."
The 2009 conference, "Walking In a Drive-Thru World", promises to be another awesome weekend for singles who want to connect with other single adults, hear from God's Word, and spend time worshipping the Lord. Pastor Gary Sauer from First Bible Baptist Church in Rochester will deliver the keynote messages based on Philippians 3:14. Gary's vision for singles is that they would see the value in singleness and their worth to God and His ministry. Gary's hope for this conference is that singles would get the message that quick fixes and patch jobs rarely last and hardly ever give us the results we really want. That we need to persevere in this "long walk" with Christ. Gary is a gifted communicator whose messages are filled with Biblical truth and humor.
In addition to Gary's messages, several workshops will be offered on Saturday. Guests can choose from workshops on topics such as: Finding Joy in Discouragement, God's Ultimate Way to Health, Discovering Adventure and Intimacy with God, Leadership and Teamwork, and Our Journey with Christ. These workshops will be presented by singles or former singles with a heart for singles ministry.
The truth is that we all need meaningful relationships, to feel connected. The SALSA Ministry and it's annual conferences have provided single adults with opportunities to interact with each other for the past ten years. The times spent sitting around the fireplace or across a table sharing a meal present opportunities to make those connections. Lifelong friendships that can get you through the tough times.
